Laundry Room

Let's talk about the kitchenette turned laundry room...turned walk in closet.

This is what it looked like when we moved in.

Then Nick went all demo on it.

Then we moved the washer and dryer from downstairs.

Not cute, I know, but functional. In a house with two kids, function wins over cuteness.
The rest of the room was a puzzle, there was space, but we weren't sure what to do with it.

It was Sully's train room for awhile, but train pieces hidden under dirty clothes was not a good combination. Then when we got our new kitty Buttercup, and we turned it into a kitty room. Again, not a good combination. Who wants their clean laundry to smell like kitty litter? And don't get me started on the kitty litter mess  all over the floor. If I am going to have a second floor laundry, it is so I can get away from the gross basement smells. So Buttercup had to go.

I decided to go with the whole laundry and clothing theme and turned it into a walk in closet.

Again, this is an Ikea project. And as always, we said it should take at most a couple of hours. Famous last words. We had to make another trip to Ikea and I still didn't get everything right, so technically it is not done. But it is close enough. The only real issue,is it is upstairs and we have a first floor master. Someday I want to take over Sully's area and turn it into the master suite. That can't happen until we sell our old house. Anyone looking to buy a beautiful Victorian in St Paul, MN? Just sayin'

Until next time...
