Floors, Floors, Floors

So many things have been happening, but this post is all about the floors.

Remember the ugly old blue carpet?

Step 1 was to remove the carpet. My hand still hurts from all those staples.

We were very pleased to reveal wood floors. Maple to be exact.

The floors were in pretty good condition, just a few stains and 1 spot that needed patching. So next step was to refinish. Now neither of us have had any experience refinishing floors, but I thought "Hey, let's try it!" Easy for me to say, because Nick was the one who would be doing all the work.

Nick headed over to Pete's, www.peteshardwoodfloors.com. They were a huge help! They taught Nick everything he needed to do and rented him all the equipment he needed.

So step 2 began: Sanding the floors. This was hours of back breaking work, but Nick is a powerhouse and he was able to get it all done in a weekend.

This is Nick diligently working on the patch job. The floors were all sanded and looking great.

Step 3: Varnish. This is the best. Just 3 coats of poly and the floors are beautiful. I could not be happier. I am so proud of my man. He did such a great job.

Wouldn't you agree?

The pictures don't really do it justice. You will have to trust me. They look gorgeous and are worth all the work.

So now we are moving all of our stuff in. We hope to be actually living at the new house soon. Wish us luck!

Until next time...
